News from Smithers-Oasis France - FLOREVENT – 16th & 17th of March 2025

During 2 days in Lyon (France), the trade show Florevent brought together suppliers and florists from all over France. 

Smithers-Oasis France launched officially the new plant based floral foam: OASIS® Renewal™ Floral Foam. A great success with a lot of enthusiasm from French florists.

Our ambassador, Stéphane Chanteloube, Best Craftsman of France, made a special floral demonstration on stage to present this new and revolutionary product: plant-based, biobased, low carbon footprint, high performance foam suited for every kind of floral design.

Smithers Oasis also sponsored 2 florists for the contest of the best floral scenographer. The theme was to make a shop window for a pastry chef around the universe of the series Bridgerton. Mylène Jean-Lambert won the competition.

Young Florist’s Oscar 2025

The 26th and 27th of April, the French federation of florists organized the 48th edition of the national final of the Young Florists' Oscar, in the splendid abbey of Fontfroide, Narbonne (11). This edition took place as part of the 20th edition of the Fête des Plantes et du Massif at the Abbey.  

Benoit Saint Amand, Best Craftsman of France, was the president of the jury and created 6 subjects from bouquets to floral arrangements inspired by the location of the competition.

The 10 candidates have shown creativity and technical skills to try to win the title of Best Young Florist of France.

  • First = Guillaume LECAS from "Charline Pritscaloff" Orléans (Centre Val de Loire)
  • Second = Lucas OLIVIER from “Saint Fiacre Fleuriste” Toulouse (Haute-Garonne)
  • Third = Louis HAUDRECHY from "Stéphane Chanteloube Fleuriste" Gerzat (Puy-de-Dôme)

‘Corbières floral arrangement’, was made with our OASIS® BIO BLACK floral foam, black and degradable* foam.  A subject also made with 100% french flowers (Hortisud, Fleurs du Var). 

*OASIS® BIO BLACK degrades by 91% in 3 years in an anaerobic environment (ISO 15985).

The vegetal column was made with foliages from the garden of the abbey, a metalic structure and bricks of OASIS® BIO BLACK. As an official partner of the competition, we gave a prize favorite to Sidonie Marceau.
